Speaking of beaches, you’ll also have to opportunity to top-up your tan on the golden sands of Baia do Sancho – voted the ‘World’s Best Beach’ in the 2014 & 2015 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards – in UNESCO-listed Fernando de Noronha, where you can also enjoy a spot of bird watching and snorkel gorgeous coral reefs. Up next is Uruguay where you’ll discover contrasting sights and experiences in two fascinating cities. Wander past modern seaside homes and expensive yachts in glamourous Punta del Este, then explore historic Montevideo – South America’s southernmost capital – to see some of the country’s oldest and most beautiful buildings.Another highlight of this cruise is a day-long call to the seductive Argentinian capital, Buenos Aires, where the plazas and avenues lined with coffee houses, busy bars and fine examples of European-inspired architecture are a joy to explore. The extensive exploration of Chile will be truly unforgettable too, with Boudicca gliding along simply stunning waterways and docking at wonderful ports of call. Have your camera to hand as you sail through the astonishing Chilean Fjords and between the glistening glaciers of the Patagonian Ice Fields en route to Laguna San Rafael; watch native wildlife such as wetland birds in Puerto Chacabuco; and ride the funicular railway to discover superb views of the colourful structures and surrounding landscapes in UNESCO-listed Valparaiso, Chile’s second city. Finally you’ll visit Peru, calling first at General San Martin and then Callao, from where you can visit magnificent Machu Picchu – one of the world’s great wonders – before flying home.
